Your journey to healing starts here
Redemption Road Recovery exists to guide individuals on the road to spiritual, emotional, and physical healing through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our story
My name is Pastor Shane Tanner. I was born in Jasper, Florida and was raised in Pearson, Georgia most of my life. I am married to Kimberly (Nikki) Tanner. We have 6 children between the two of us. We have been blessed with 1 year and 3 months of marriage.
The Lord gave me the vision of Redemption Road Recovery on November 14, 2025. This program is intended to help establish a Christ-centered support group and encourage people struggling with addiction to put Christ at the center of the recovery process. Many of the comments in this program will be written from the perspective of a fellow Christian that has been and came through recovery. This program attempts to be a plain-talking recovery tool to minister to hurt people and equip those in need.
I have never struggled with addiction to street drugs, but I have struggled with nicotine and other addictions. My wife, on the other hand, has dealt with addiction. She is now clean and sober going into her seventh year. She is completely set free from the addiction of drugs by the grace of God. When Nikki got tired of having it her way, it was at that point that she totally yielded to the Lord. It was the end of the road called "My Way." Over the last few years, the Lord has led her and I to work hard with people struggling with addiction. Our heart is to help as many as we can to be drug free and to introduce them to the master Jesus Christ.
There is no price tag that can be put on this form of help. Greater is he that is within us than he that is within the world. Without Christ we are nothing. We cannot overcome the spirit of addiction alone and it is ok to ask for help. Being involved in a Christ-centered recovery program gives us an opportunity to have fellowship with other Christians who understand our struggle. It also helps us act as a bridge for those people who suffer in silence, many of whom sit on church pews. It is also a bridge for those who need to be in church but are afraid of being judged. I am a firm believer in always showing Care, Compassion, and Concern for every person no matter who they are, nor which walk of life they come from.
Our Leadership
At Redemption Roads Recovery Outreach, we believe that the most effective leaders are those who have walked through the fire and experienced the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Our leadership is built on real-life testimony, unwavering faith, and a heart to serve those who are searching for hope.
Our recovery leaders, Valerie Watson and Josh Freeman, are living examples of God's redeeming grace. Both have overcome addiction, incarceration, and countless obstacles that once seemed impossible to overcome. Today, they no longer live in bondage to their past. Instead, they boldly share their testimonies to encourage others that freedom in Christ is possible.
Valerie and Josh were chosen for leadership because they demonstrate the qualities essential to Christ-centered recovery: integrity, honesty, humility, compassion, accountability, and a genuine love for people. They lead by example, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide every conversation, every meeting, and every opportunity to serve.
Their mission is simple: to point people to Jesus Christ while walking alongside those seeking freedom from addiction, substance abuse, trauma, and other life-controlling behaviors. Whether someone is taking their first step toward recovery or continuing their journey of healing, our leaders are committed to providing a safe, judgment-free environment where hope is restored, lives are transformed, and Christ is glorified.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." — 1 Peter 4:10
At Redemption Roads Recovery Outreach, we do not believe your past disqualifies you. We believe that when your life is surrendered to Christ, your past becomes a testimony that can lead someone else to freedom.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." — 2 Corinthians 5:17
Our recovery leaders, Valerie Watson and Josh Freeman, are committed to walking beside every person seeking recovery from addiction, substance abuse, trauma, or any other life-controlling behavior. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the hope found in Jesus Christ, they are dedicated to helping individuals experience true transformation, lasting freedom, and a restored purpose. No matter where you have been or what you are facing, there
is hope, there is healing, and there is freedom in Christ.
From modest beginnings, we've grown through unwavering dedication and a commitment to continuous improvement. Each step has reinforced our core belief in the power of collaboration and the importance of integrity. We're passionate about what we do, and we're excited to share our story with you.
